Queer Festival - Germany

  • Karlstorbahnhof Heidelberg, hall Germany (map)

May 5th is the European Day of Protest for Equality for People with Disabilities. Together with the city of Heidelberg, we would like to use the festival opening as an opportunity to focus on the experiences and topics of queer people with disabilities. Following a short panel discussion, we have a collective as guests that we have wanted to bring to our festival stage for a long time. We are proud and happy that it finally works this year and that we have the large new hall of the Karlstorbahnhof available:

London based Drag Syndrome is the first professional drag collective of artists with Down Syndrome. Founded in London in March 2018, the group brings glamor and glitter to numerous stages around the world. The versatility of the performers dispels prejudices about life with Down syndrome and shows lively artistic personalities with expressive sexual identities and their own ambitions.

Welcome speeches are given by Lord Mayor Prof. Dr. Eckart Würzner, Danijel Cubelic, Head of the Office for Equal Opportunities of the City of Heidelberg, the Managing Director of the Karlstorbahnhof Cora Maria Malik and the Queer Festival initiators Martin JV Müller and Dominic Hauser.

Under the title "Bodily Autonomies", the vernissage of this year's international photo exhibition will take place after the program in the hall in the headquarters of Karlstorbahnhof. With a drink and appetizers, the chairman of the jury, Frederik Busch, will give a brief introduction to the works on display.

Limited capacity, register at anmeldung@karlstorbahnhof.de

Please also let us know what kind of support you need: Do you need an induction hearing system for hearing support or do you need sign language or speech-to-text interpreters? Do you need a rest room? Would you like to be picked up at the building entrance and taken to the function room? Do you have other support needs? We would be happy to clarify whether and how we can enable you to participate!
